Colorway Story: Emerson
Emerson is the second of our Shindig colorways, named after important streets (to us) in our lovely home of Pittsburgh, PA. Emerson St. is the street where we lived in our second apartment together. This apartment was where we dressed as Sully & Mike from Monsters, Inc. for Halloween, discovered Nora's obsession with growing fruits in cups (there were cups of water with seeds in them all over the kitchen, which were constantly knocked over by the cats), and basically spent every night together because we were short on friends.
This street is in the heart of Shadyside, just around the corner from our favorite Turkish market where we would get ice cream 3 nights a week at 10pm. We were near a few schools and churches, and great restaurants. OH AND TARGET; what a mistake that was because the two of us can convince each other of anything - "Nor, we NEED this tiny tiny couch because it's so cute and tiny, what will we do without it?" "Ky, we NEED this huge bag of sour patch kids because we don't have any treats in the whole house and we need sugar or else."
Emerson is one of the greenest streets we have lived on, hence why we dyed it green! There are lots of beautiful trees and houses with amazing porches, which let's be honest, is the #1 indicator of a good house. All of our Shindig colorways are tonal, meaning there are light and dark shades of this beautiful green! And as Nora mentioned in the Woodwell colorway story, there is cotton wrapped around the wool. Our dyes do not work with cotton, so that part remains white!
I love marled yarns so much, you know I'm going to knit everything in this yarn!
