Handmade 2019 Week in Review: January 8th-14th
Happy Monday! (?)
So I’ve made it through another week of my challenge! It has definitely made me more conscious of the clothes I wear repeatedly, and the ones I don’t wear at all. In fact, I’ve realized that I have been ignoring some of my beautifully made items, which makes me sad. I put in a lot of effort and spent a lot of money on them, and there’s no reason I’m not wearing them except that I can’t see them at all times. Because they’re stuffed in my closet (which is really not a great system since I have literally one closet in my whole apartment and no other storage. Yes - I know, it’s pretty nuts). Needles to say, that closet is disorganized and that is not at all the place where pretty things should live. It seems like I need a better way of organizing my clothing.
Now let’s bring Marie Kondo into it, because I just started watching her show Tidying Up on Netflix. I actually haven’t ever read her book because I kind of felt like I didn’t need to organize my life in that way. I’m also not sure her methods would work on me because one day I love something and a month later I hate it. Then I love it again a year later. It’s very confusing for everyone involved. However, after actually seeing how she goes into a home and organizes it, I honestly might try it just for my clothing, since I don’t have that much other stuff to begin with (remember how I only have 1 closet? Yeah, it doesn’t allow for a lot of stuff.)
So maybe I’ll try it, maybe I won’t. But the moral of the story is, try wearing the clothes you don’t wear frequently. Chances are that you bought it or made it for a reason, and you’ll love wearing it. And if you don’t, donate it so that someone else can love it. :)
Which look is your favorite??
